Our Military Kids provides substantial support in the form of grants to the children of National Guard and Military Reserve personnel who are currently deployed overseas, as well as the children of Wounded Warriors in all branches. The grants from Our Military Kids pay for participation in sports, fine arts, camps, and tutoring programs that nurture and sustain children while a parent is away in service to our country or recovering from injury.

Success Stories from Our Military Kids
Colleen Benton, mother of Matthew
In 3rd grade, Matthew was subjected to a bully, who made comments ... such as "I hope your Dad dies" and "He goes over there to get away from you." With all of the teasing and tormenting, Matthew's self-esteem dropped to the point that he did not want to live on earth anymore. With the decline of his self-esteem came the drop in grades. When I first heard about your grants, I was told it was for sports and activities. I was very excited to find I could use it on tutoring, as well! Now, with the change of schools, and the addition of a tutor, Matthew's grades have improved immensely, and he is now on the above average scale on his state mandated tests.... I do not believe this would have happened without the help of the tutor. As his grades continued to improve, so did his self-esteem. With all of the extra duties I needed to take on when my spouse deployed, it was nice to be able to get tutoring help ... and not feel like I was neglecting quality time on school work. Thank you for helping to raise my son.
Stacy Feilen
Thanks to the generous grant funding, our family is reminded of the special things in life. Last week, Brooklyn mastered her back float and floated for 20 seconds ... just like Daddy! She dove to the bottom of a pool to retrieve a ring ... just like Daddy! For these moments, I am grateful to have the support of an organization so generous, so understanding and so supportive of the real needs of the little ones left behind. Our kids may not understand the dynamic of the war, but having access to programs such as Our Military Kids helps support and encourages them through the difficulties a deployment can bring.

Since I have sacrificed so much, I am glad that people like Our Military Kids and the people who donate to them, have made a sacrifice for me.
Amy DeNardo-Kaczmarek
It brought tears to my eyes that people would allow for my three year old and my special needs child not to be tossed aside and forgotten, but to be protected from the storm and given opportunities to keep busy in chaos.
